The Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO) is a public research body (OPI), reporting to the Ministry of Science and Innovation, dedicated to marine science research, particularly the scientific study of the oceans, the sustainability of fishery resources and the marine environment.

The IEO represents Spain at most international scientific and technological forums concerned with the sea and its resources.
