David Arauz and Diego Schattenhofer bring their careers together in an exclusive four-hands dinner at Taste 1973

El Digital Sur picked up on 21 January one of the most special occasions of our season: a four-hands dinner with chef David Arauz, with whom Diego has had a professional and personal relationship for nineteen years. We’re glad to share it from home, because it sums up well what we understand by cooking: dialogue, respect and a wish to keep learning.

The piece revealed that the dinner will take place on Saturday 21 February 2026 at 20:00 at Taste 1973, within the Hotel Villa Cortés. Under the concept “Converging Paths”, the two chefs propose an evening in which each keeps his operational freedom and creative autonomy. As the article itself explains, it starts from the premise that “different paths, diverse experiences and individual ways of thinking can lead to the same level of culinary achievement”: the idea is to have a dialogue through cooking after almost two decades of parallel careers marked by “a constant drive towards evolution and refinement.”

The thread running through the evening will be fully Atlantic, with Canarian and local produce taking centre stage, ground well known to those who follow what we publish about Canarian gastronomy and about the maturation of the island’s fish. The menu will not be disclosed in advance, as it has been conceived as a one-off experience meant for that single night. It will be served as a tasting menu, priced at 189 euros per person, including wine pairing, water and coffee. The organisers warn that available seats will be very limited.

The coverage didn’t stop there. Sol del Sur Tenerife published the news the same day, recalling that the two chefs have known each other for nineteen years. And, already in February, Canariasgourmet added a couple of details that delight us: that David Arauz runs Zuara Sushi, in Madrid, and that the evening is part of the “TOP DINNER’S 2026 by Frimancha” series, the same one that already passed through our dining room in its 2024 edition. The outlet also describes the Taste 1973 that Diego has been building as “a laboratory built on Canarian produce, territory and contemporary technique, with an Atlantic reading.”
